Is a saying I grew up with it was taught to me by my Parents
as a warning never to mock, make fun of or despise anyone.

Christ says the same thing in Matthew 7.

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
For in the same way as you judge others, you will be judged,
and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."
